  23. I wanted to ask if anyone has any comments or advice on the relative
  24. price/performance ratios of an Alpha 21064 system at 275MHz vs. a Pentium
  25. Pro at 200MHz.

  27. My company is going to be purchasing a LightWave rendering unit in the next
  28. couple of months and I thought that a Raptor system using a 21064 at 275MHz
  29. would be the way to go (can't afford the 366MHz 21164 right now, but with a
  30. Raptor you can upgrade). Upon investigating the price of such a unit, I was
  31. told by one Deskstation reseller that I should forget a 21064 and go with a
  32. Pentium Pro instead. The Pentium Pro would give me more bang for my buck, he
  33. said.

  35. So now I'm confused. Does anyone have any experience with a Pentium Pro
  36. running LightWave? Is it really that fast?
